Following a strategy focused on the permanent search for safety and sustainability, Carreras Grupo Logístico has renewed its trust in Michelin, which will carry out both periodic preventive maintenance and comprehensive management of the tires in its fleet to increase the performance of its tires.

The collaboration includes the implementation of innovative MICHELIN Smart Predictive Tire solutions such as QuickScan technology that allows the tire to be controlled by circulating it on a platform with magnetic scanners without the need to travel to the workshop, which makes it possible to predict the ideal time for its replacement as well as wear alerts; increasing maintenance efficiency, driving safety, productivity and sustainability of fleets thanks to:

  • 24/7 real-time monitoring of the status of the fleet’s tires.
  • Planning of vehicle stops, allowing them to coincide with the rest of the maintenance.
  • Reduction in fuel consumption of up to 1%3 by allowing up to 1.3 mm2 more rubber to be used thanks to greater wear control.
  • A reduction in CO2 emissions, raw material consumption and waste generated, thanks to fuel savings and optimised wear and tear.

Racing and Michelin: an alliance to continue growing sustainably

Carreras is carrying out a strategic sustainability plan, with the aim of reducing and offsetting its emissions. To this end, Carreras has the range of MICHELIN long-distance tires (X® LINE™ ENERGY™) with low rolling resistance that reduces the fleet’s fuel consumption, with a direct effect on reducing its operational carbon footprint. In addition, the longer service life of MICHELIN tyres reduces tyre consumption, while at the same time strengthening the safety of people, vehicles and loads.

The agreement also contributes to the aforementioned sustainability through the use of the MICHELIN REMIX multi-life system, a process that allows the retreading of the tyres with the guarantee of maintaining the same performance in terms of safety, traction and grip as with new MICHELIN tyres (5). REMIX not only extends the life of tires, but also reduces the consumption of raw materials by 70% compared to the manufacture of new tires, thus contributing to a decrease in the carbon footprint of transportation.

“At Michelin, we work to offer solutions that not only optimize fleet performance, but also contribute to the development of more environmentally friendly transportation,” said Jorge Prego, Chief Commercial Officer of Connected Solutions. “The renewal of our alliance with Carreras Grupo Logístico is another step in our commitment to lead the sustainable transformation of the logistics sector.”

For its part, Carreras highlights “this agreement reflects our vision of the future to achieve safer and more sustainable tyres”.

The renewal of the agreement accompanies the growth of Carreras, which continues to expand its fleet in the Iberian and European markets. The implementation of advanced and sustainable technological solutions as part of this collaboration reinforces the commitment of both companies to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
