The Portuguese delegation of Carreras Grupo Logístico has been awarded the Lean & Green award thanks to its action plan focused on green values, collaboration and efficient driving
The Carreras delegation in Portugal has been distinguished with the Lean & Green award, the largest European collaboration platform especially aimed at reducing emissions associated with the supply chain. This recognition highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The action plan presented by Carreras in Portugal is based on fundamental pillars such as green values, collaboration and efficient driving. The accredited documentation adequately reflects the company’s logistics activity, the calculation methodologies used and the data used to determine emissions.
For the presentation of this project, Carreras has chosen 2021 as the base year for his measurements. The results obtained in 2023 show a 15.96% reduction in CO2e emissions per tonne transported compared to 2021 and is already working on the goal of achieving a 20% reduction.
The company has implemented various measures to improve its sustainability, including technical improvements in logistics centres, the renewal of the Euro6 Type E fleet, and improvements in the fuels used. In addition, its next steps in the action plan are to continue training in efficient driving, the expansion of the Euro6 capillary fleet, and the purchase of green energy from 2025.
With this award, Carreras reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement in its logistics operations, also in Portugal.
For its part, Carreras Grupo Logístico has recently achieved its third Lean & Green star, whose recognition certifies that the operator has reduced its CO2 emissions by 37.64% compared to the base year of 2016. Therefore, together with the Lean & Green award that its Portuguese subsidiary has won, the logistics operator seeks to reduce the main sources of emissions through various continuous improvement projects: energy and fuel, relying on the training and awareness of its teams.
