By 2024 they have reduced emissions of more than 5 million kilos of CO₂ thanks to their sustainable collaboration
Carreras Grupo Logístico has received the CHEP Sustainability Certificate for having avoided, in 2024 alone, the emission of more than 5.4 million kilos of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and the generation of more than 350,000 kilos of waste. This CO₂ saving is equivalent to 136 trips around the world by truck.
This result is the result of CHEP’s use of reusable wooden pallets from CHEP by Carreras. Environmental savings are calculated based on an independent pallet life cycle analysis (LCA), which compares the CO2, wood and waste generated by the CHEP pallet compared to those that replace standard single-use (white) European pallets.
Fewer trucks, less pollution
In addition to these savings from the use of reusable wooden pallets, since mid-2024 Carreras and CHEP have started using DUO trucks for the transport of their products. DUOS can carry more cargo in a single trip, which reduces the total number of journeys and therefore pollutant emissions.
Reuse more to save
Carreras has also improved CHEP’s reusable pallet collection system. Even in places where few products are delivered, smart routes have been sought to collect used pallets and give them a second life, which also helps to reduce waste and costs.
In addition, Carreras encourages its customers to use these reusable pallets instead of others that are discarded after a single use. In this way, a circular economy model is promoted, where resources are used to the maximum and the environment is taken care of.
One more step towards a sustainable future
This CHEP certificate confirms Carreras’ commitment to sustainability. Both companies will continue to work together to create innovative solutions that benefit both the planet and people.
