The Aragonese capital is the epicentre of a long-term test with hybrid hydrogen and renewable diesel trucks in which the companies Carreras Grupo Logístico, Zoilo Ríos, EVARM and Repsol collaborate
It is clear that long-distance transport and distribution are making a great effort to find new options that combine sustainability, efficiency and profitability. Zaragoza is the scene of the trial of one of them that, according to the initial results, can contribute decisively to carrying out the necessary decarbonisation in a key sector for today’s society, that of freight transport.
Specifically, it is the external mobility pilot test that will be jointly developed over the next few months by the companies Zoilo Ríos, EVARM and Carreras Grupo Logístico, with the collaboration of Repsol. The idea is to test with real customers first on short journeys and then on long ones to Barcelona and Madrid a truck that uses renewable hydrogen and diesel also renewable, a hybrid tractor unit developed by EVARM, a company specialising in this type of transformation, from the version that recently won its second consecutive victory in the Mission 1000 category of the Dakar Rally. reserved for vehicles powered by alternative energies.
The heavy vehicle is supplied with renewable hydrogen at the Repsol hydroliner located at the El Cisne I service station of the Zoilo Ríos Group, and also refuels there with 100% renewable Nexa diesel, a fuel that the company already supplies at more than 900 service stations – 101 in Aragon – produced from organic waste and which, with current technology, it already makes it possible to reduce net CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to the mineral fuel it replaces. At the same time, Carreras Grupo Logístico uses this truck to check its viability both in on-site distribution and to connect the different logistics centres that the operator has.
