Carreras is participating in a project with IBM Bob, an Artificial Intelligence development tool designed to help teams working in environments such as IBM i. By combining the stability of IBM i with IBM’s emerging AI programming capabilities, Carreras is demonstrating how technology teams can modernize their development practices while continuing to rely on robust systems.
Through early access to the platform, the Career Computing team is applying IBM Bob directly into production development environments, allowing developers to evaluate how AI assistance accelerates day-to-day programming activities while maintaining the reliability of systems. This hands-on experience allowed the team to explore how AI-assisted development fits naturally into already established workflows, bringing immediate value to developers working with complex applications.
This approach has made it possible to explore new ways of working with long-standing codebases. By automatically explaining complex program logic and generating documentation directly from existing applications, Bob helps developers more quickly understand system behavior and identify opportunities for improvement.
The AI wizard also speeds up refactoring and helps developers coordinate changes across multiple files and modules. These capabilities allow you to reduce the time spent analyzing legacy logic and focus more energy on delivering new functionalities that improve operational efficiency across the logistics network.
As one of the first companies to adopt IBM Bob in enterprises in Spain, Carreras Grupo Logístico is also helping to demonstrate how AI-assisted development can benefit organizations running critical applications and workloads on IBM i. This experience positions Carreras as an important reference for organizations exploring how AI can improve software development while preserving the trusted platforms that power their operations. In turn, through this collaboration, Carreras is helping to shape how AI-enabled development practices can be applied to IBM i environments across industries.
As the organization continues to evolve its logistics technology platform, AI-assisted development is becoming a powerful tool to accelerate innovation, improve developer productivity, and enable the next generation of logistics solutions. By reducing the time needed to analyze and improve complex applications, the development team can focus more of its efforts on delivering new digital capabilities that support logistics operations and customer service. This balance of stability and innovation helps ensure that its technology platform continues to scale in the face of the growing demands of global supply chain operations.
